BYU Rocketry Association
About
BYU Rocketry Association
BYU Rocketry is a student run organization with the goal is to help it's members gain real world engineering experience in the aerospace field. Our members have gone on to work at companies such as SpaceX, NASA, Blue Origin, Northrop Grumman, and many more.
Leadership
Vice President
As the Vice President, I assist the President in running the year's activities in the association. I mentor our Junior High Power Team, who prepares to get on the High Power Team and compete in the Spaceport America Cup by following the same Spaceport regulations and building practices. They design and complete a rocket over the course of a school year. I also oversee our Advanced Launch Competition as well as our Outreach efforts to new students and recruiters.
Outreach Coordinator
As the Outreach Coordinator, I specifically focused on helping the association recruit new members after a devasting loss of talent due to COVID-19. I recruited 120 new members into our first meeting of the year. I also organized efforts to have industry experts come speak to the club about internships, jobs, and how rocketry can help us in our careers.
Student Launch Competition
Cuba 1
As a Freshmen in 2019, I was able to participate in BYU Rocketry's annual Student Launch Competition. The goal of the competition is to fly to 1,700ft on an Aerotech G74 motor. The winner is whoever gets closest. Students learn the basics of rocketry by designing a rocket in OpenRocket and manufacturing it.

Advanced Launch Competition
ARC
The goal of the Advanced Launch Competition is to help Sophmores learn more advanced rocketry techniques. We are required to have a composite component, a 3D printed component, a payload that measures temperature on the nosecone, and fly as close to 5,000ft as possible. Unfortuantely we did not launch this rocket because we fried the electronics the night before the launch, but we learned alot!
